Principal's Message
Carlton Gardens Primary School is a happy and
caring community where all are welcomed and valued.
The core business of Carlton Gardens Primary School
is learning and teaching. Our curriculum planning is based on an
understanding of how students learn, their development, needs, talents,
interests and the ways they learn best.
It is assumed that all students are capable of
responding to high expectations, of working effectively with others, of
making decisions about their learning and of expressing themselves in
creative ways. This is supported by the strong emphasis we place on
Literacy, Numeracy, Learning Technologies and Higher Order Thinking
Skills
Curriculum within the school is also based upon the
Victorian Essential Learning Standards, our understanding of Australian
society, its expectations of schooling and the aspirations of the
students’ families and other members of the local community.
There is an expectation that the school curriculum
supports the development and operation of our open democratic society
and at the same time, endeavours to provide opportunities for each child
to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for lifelong
learning.
Students upon leaving our school have become
well-rounded, responsible children who have attained the skills to be
successful in their future endeavour.
The teachers at Carlton Gardens Primary School
pride themselves as being caring and nurturing and having respect for
their colleagues, students and the parent community. Our teachers use
proven teaching strategies while at the same time they remain open to
new, innovative ideas.
An innovative and dynamic school, Carlton Gardens
Primary School responds positively to the rapidly changing world in
which we live. We strive to ensure that our children develop respect
for themselves, each other, their families, teachers, our local
community and the environment.
Welcome to our school.
